Introducing New York’s Fifth Avenue Hotel

October 4, 2021 by Perrie Hartz

In New York’s famed NoMad district just five blocks north of leafy Madison Square Park, a new, luxe design hotel is poised to open its doors in Spring 2023. Flâneur Hospitality’s The Fifth  is a welcome addition to the luxury sphere in a lively, chic neighborhood that is perfectly situated between the city’s uber-hip downtown areas and the classic elegance of Upper Manhattan.

Bounded by quaint Greenwich Village to the south, artsy Chelsea to the west, and elegant, historic Gramercy Park to the east, NoMad is an eclectic blend of its surrounding neighborhoods and, as such, is currently enjoying a kind of cultural renaissance. This charming area, with its commingling of different cultures and styles, lends itself perfectly the idea of the Flâneur, a French term for a self-professed “urban wanderer” who is a worldly connoisseur of art and culture and who aims to curate a life filled with the beauty and allure of travel.

With its visionary design by Martin Brudnizki, evocative art installations, luxurious decor, and quintessential location in a lively and culturally rich area of New York, The Fifth will surely attract Flâneurs from all over the world.

The property itself is housed in an impressive historic 1900s Second National Bank by renowned architectural firm McKim, Mead and White, and will have 110 guest rooms and 43 suites (located both in the original mansion and in the newly built modern tower next door).

There will also be a signature restaurant, a private dining room, an intimate and chic Portrait Bar for cocktails and night caps, an extensive wine cellar, a library/study, fitness center, and a sprawling ballroom for weddings and private events that can host up to 200 guests.

The hotel’s bright and slightly funky interiors provide a nice visual canvas and interesting juxtaposition to the more classically elegant design details like the antique French-style wall paneling.

With an overall ambiance of elegance and charm, the rooms will also each evoke a different sensibility, and some, like the studio suites, will have mint green-painted walls, bold black upholstered headboards, marble bathrooms, tasseled lampshades, and an architecturally unique glass partition, behind which hangs a remarkable multi-colored Murano glass chandelier that serves as the true pièce de résistance

Each room will also come equip with amenities like a Dux 8008 customizable mattress, plush P.Le Moult custom-made bathrobes, Dyson hair dryers, a stunning and fully customizable cocktail bar/cabinet, dedicated butler service, and tablets with seamless media integration for room service orders and wireless controls. Some rooms and suites will also have sprawling terraces with impressive views overlooking the Manhattan skyline.

With vintage-esque, richly-textured furniture and décor, bright colors, bold patters, and just a touch of whimsy, The Fifth Avenue Hotel is ready to make its grand debut into New York City’s hip hotel scene with stylish aplomb.
