Discover Kokomo Private Island Fiji- a soulful private island paradise, unlike any other, filled with unscripted moments. Located in the pristine Kadavu Islands, a remote area south of Fiji’s mainland surrounded by the astounding crystalline waters of the Great Astrolabe Reef, Kokomo is truly Fiji’s most exclusive and impressive private island resort. Kokomo’s owner, an Australian property tycoon, Lang Walker AO, immediately fell in love with the island while flying over the area on a seaplane, gazing down in awestruck wonder at the turquoise waters and lush green topography of this untouched Fijian gem. Opened in March 2017, he spared no expense while transforming the 140-acre island into a true tropical haven of world-class comfort and style. His deep-rooted love for the land, its natural surroundings, and Fijian culture itself is intrinsically infused in every aspect of Kokomo, which effortlessly melds a natural sense of familiarity and intimacy together with secluded luxury.

The journey to Kokomo is a memorable experience in and of itself; arriving guests will see the same sweeping, awe-inspiring views of the Kadavu Islands’ sparkling waters and powder-white stretches of sand that Lang Walker first fell in love with as they are flown to the island via the resort’s private seaplane or helicopter, just a 45-minute flight from Nadi International Airport. Guests arriving and departing from Nadi will have access to the resort’s dedicated aviation hanger and luxurious private lounge to refresh and relax before heading to their next destination.

The design of Kokomo perfectly complements Fiji’s awe-inspiring natural beauty. Inspired by this exotic topography, renowned interior designer Philip Garner, along with lead architect Keith Lambert and owner Lang Walker AO, created a secluded oasis that perfectly melds with its natural surroundings, from the grays of the elegant stonework to the coconut fiber roof beams and specific magimagi design. The calming, subdued color palate is offset by bright accents of poppy, powder-white beach fronts and the vivid aquamarine hues of the Great Astrolabe Coral Reef; the remarkable backdrop that cradles the entire property. Renowned Australian painter, Chris Kenyon, encapsulated the island’s beauty in one-of-a-kind masterpieces while he stayed as their artist in residence.

Simple yet chic wooden accents and local artwork throughout the resort reinforce the Fijian idea of an effortlessly relaxed “barefoot luxury”, and it is clear that Kokomo places as much emphasis on Fiji’s natural beauty as it does on the resort’s interiors and furnishings, which are sourced from all over the world to create a truly exotic and all-encompassing experience. The space feels deeply imbued with serenity and joy, and it reflects the kind of warm, Fijian hospitality that Lang Walker AO first found so inviting.
