The Fifth Avenue Hotel

Overview

Set within a 19th-century mansion by McKim, Mead and White, The Fifth Avenue Hotel holds 104 guest rooms and 45 suites, each composed with a distinct hand. A lacquered desk sourced in Paris. A velvet chaise shaped in Milan. A palette that moves from dusk to amber. No two rooms repeat. A collection is placed with intent. Furniture is structured, not styled. A certain asymmetry keeps the eye moving.

The Fifth offers dining guided by James Beard Award–winning chef Andrew Carmellini. His restaurant, Cafe Carmellini, brings Italian cuisine and a seasonal menu to a lively space with luminous chandeliers, plush jewel-toned banquettes, and two towering sculptural trees. The Portrait Bar is its jewel-box counterpart, with globally inspired cocktails, deep velvets, a hum that lingers past midnight. Below, a wine cellar holds bottles chosen for depth and provenance. For those who require more, a private dining room offers discretion, and a mirrored ballroom for 150 reflects each celebratory moment, intimate or grand.

Outside, NoMad shifts through the day. Madison Square Park moves from green to gold. The Flower District carries a trace of scent, stems cut at dawn. Chelsea, Gramercy, and the Village sit within reach, each with its own tempo. The city is at your fingertips, should you choose to leave.

Inside, Murano glass chandeliers scatter and gather the light. With visionary design by the renowned Martin Brudnizki, installations appear where you do not expect them—along a corridor, at the turn of a stair. For those who notice, for those who wonder.

Accommodations

149 spacious rooms and suites across two buildings, each one adorned with enchanting details. The Tower climbs 24 stories above NoMad, its rooms framing the skyline with architectural precision. The Mansion, a five-story Italian Renaissance palazzo, operates on a different register. Its proportions are considered. Its charm earned over time. Together they form a single address.

The interiors are furnished with the finest of everything. A Duxiana mattress, calibrated to the body. Italian linens and custom bath amenities. A maxi bar stocked with treats and drinks, ready upon arrival. A dedicated butler who learns preferences without being asked. The terrace suites open onto private outdoor space above the rooftops. The Manhattan skyline close enough to feel like a personal possession.
