OverviewTempo Plains is an exclusive Relais & Chateaux tented camp set on the verdant Zambezi riverbank located on 291,000 acres on the Sapi Private Reserve east of Zimbabwe's Mana Pools National Park. Meaning elephant, the camp pays homage to the animals and different species that roam the plains. Overlooking a scenic and serene stretch of the Zambezi River shoreline, four canvas guest tents with Moroccan-style décor and artisan handmade bathtubs rest under the dappled shade of a variety of indigenous trees. Each tent offers a private indoor lounge area, an outdoor swimming pool and an outdoor dining area. For families or those seeking more space, there is a two bedroom tented suit camp. Tempo Plains is designed as one of the area’s most environmentally innovative camps with its use of only recycled hardwoods and canvas in its construction, and all of its electricity supplied by the property’s solar farm. The Zambezi River is a wildlife-rich sanctuary which hosts a healthy and ever-increasing number of wildlife species, including buffalo, elephant, lions, leopards and wild dogs, and is a bird watcher’s paradise. Each tent comes with a Canon professional camera and lenses, plus Leica binoculars for guests to capture intimate moments in the wild. In-camp excursions include vehicle safaris, walking safaris, fishing, canoeing and boat cruises. After a day of exploration and safari excursion, indulge in their rejuvenating spa treatments. Discover unique treasures at its curio store which is hidden discreetly behind beautifully weathered Zanzibar doors. In addition to seeing spectacular wildlife, there is a long history of exploration as traders flocked to this coast search of gold leaving behind Arab influences. Tempo Plains continues to evoke a nostalgia of exploration in the heart of the middle-Zambezi biosphere reserve, known as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Great Plains Conservation
Great Plains Conservation is grounded by a mission to find the right formula of conservation, communities and commerce. Its exquisite collection of safari camps, a study in sustainability, was designed to make a difference in the preservation of some of Africa’s most diverse and threatened habitats. Five passionate conservationists came together with one philosophy rooted in the fundamental appreciation of the good life, good people, good staff and good decisions that make a lasting impact on Africa’s national treasures and for iconic wildlife. Conservationists include Dereck and Beverly Joubert who are renowned wildlife documentary filmmakers and National Geographic Explorers-in-Residence. Their philosophy is deeply rooted in genuine interactions with travelers, wildlife, nature and the local communities which they are able to help through their foundations of Community Uplife, Save the Lions, Save the Rhinos, and Save the Elephants. Guests of the company’s low-impact, high-quality safari camps reap the rewards as they achieve peace of mind in knowing that they are giving back to the environment and local people that inhabit its lands. Throughout Botswana, Kenya and Zimbabwe, the Great Plains team has crafted life-changing safari journeys, which, while leaving no negative trace on the acres they cover, leave an indelible footprint in the hearts of those who are fortunate enough to visit.Visit Website
