Perched right on the water’s edge on Carbon Beach, one of Malibu’s chicest stretches of sand, Malibu Beach Inn is a boutique property in Los Angeles that reflects the classic California-cool aesthetic. From the hotel entrance to the open-air restaurant to floor-to-ceiling windows in all the rooms, there are direct views over the seemingly infinite azure waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Laid-back yet luxurious, this hotel is the perfect spot for a cozy winter weekend getaway. Guests can cozy up next to their private fireplaces while listening to the waves crashing just below their balconies, wrap themselves in chic wool blankets and watch Malibu’s iconic golden hour glow as they sip on glasses wine from one of many local vineyards, enjoy the bright morning sunshine during a beach yoga class, meander down the sand for hours as they take in the stunning architecture that lines Malibu’s “Billionaire’s Beach”, and more.

The hotel’s 47 rooms and suites are light-filled, spacious, and inviting, and all offer private balconies that are built directly over the water—quite literally. From morning until dusk, guests can choose to simply sit on their balconies and watch the tied slowly ebb and flow.

Carbon Beach Club, Malibu Beach Inn’s signature restaurant, has an awe-inducing setting, sprawled over the crashing waves below, and lined by clear glass, making it seem that you are almost floating over the water. Guests can choose to dine above the waters at the outside Ocean Terrace or instead, cozy up in the indoor area fireside and under a cozy wool blanket.

The healthy California-inspired menu sources fresh ingredients from nearby farmers markets and offers hand-selected wines (California varieties are a given), as well as refreshing, delicious cocktails created by the uber-talented mixologist. (The lychee martini and spicy jalapeño margarita are two standouts.)

Guests who want to wander beyond the sandy beach in front of the hotel can choose to make a dinner or cocktail reservation at the iconic Nobu Malibu, which is a quick five-minute walk away.

At the very beginning of Malibu Pier, lunch and brunch hotspot Malibu Farm offers delicious juices and cocktails served in mason jars, a large menu of SoCal cuisine, and gorgeous views. While Malibu has its share of high-profile residents, it also has the warm, comfortable feel of a charming small town. If you’re traveling with kids, you’ll be pleased to find playgrounds, parks outdoor spaces and ice cream shops. There are also many spectacular hikes in the surrounding hills that offer jaw-dropping views.

Whether you want to explore the Southern California coastline and all it has to offer or simply enjoy a staycation complete with stunning sea views, delicious cuisine, and luxurious amenities, Malibu Beach Inn is the perfect winter weekend getaway.
