Say “sláinte!” to Irish Heritage Month and come celebrate at The Dupont Circle, a gorgeous hotel located in Washington DC that is part of internationally renowned The Doyle Collection, an Irish, family-owned luxury hotel group with a 60-year history. Owned by members of the Doyle and Beatty families, it traces its roots back to a company founded by well-known Irish hotelier PV Doyle. The Collection, which currently comprises eight landmark properties in Dublin, Cork, London, Bristol, and Washington DC, is proud to showcase its rich identity in each luxurious property—all grounded in authentic Irish hospitality and warmth—throughout the month of March, coinciding with the feast of St. Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland.

The Dupont Circle hotel is a chic 327-room property situated in the very heart of one of Washington DC’s most popular and lively neighborhoods. With a vibrant dining and nightlife scene, the area is dotted with cafes, quaint coffee shops, museums, and famous bookstores, the perfect home base from which to explore the city. Here, the arrival of March means not only the start of spring and the blooming of the city’s famous cherry blossom trees, but also the beginning of Irish Heritage celebrations at the property. Over the course of the month, The Dupont Circle will introduce visitors, guests, neighbors, and Washington DC locals to a treasure trove of luxury Irish produce and customs with a selection of traditional dishes, the finest Irish whiskey, specialty wines, and innovative cocktails inspired by Ireland’s beautiful shores.

Great Irish (Cocktail) Tour

Featuring a selection of delicious cocktails adapted from the talented mixologists of The Coral Room cocktail bar at The Dupont Circle’s sister hotel, The Bloomsbury, The Great Irish Tour is an indulgent celebration of the varied tastes and flavors to be discovered across the stunning landscape of Ireland. These delectable pours encapsulate the urban idyll of James Joyce’s Dublin, the rugged and unbidden beauty of the Wild Atlantic Way coastline, and the lush pastures for which the Emerald Isle is so well known. The gorgeous menu offers a range of specialty cocktails and includes incredible illustrations by Dublin-born artist Steve McCarthy. Cocktail creations include The Finnegan, a creamy stout-based creation made with Redbreast 12-year-old whiskey, spiced Guinness, and licorice, and Warrior King, a blend of bitter-sweet oranges, spices, roots, and aromatic herbs. And of course, there is the famous Doyle’s Irish coffee, a creative take on the classic drink that uses fresh honey instead of sugar and provides the perfect blend of sweet, creamy, and nutty flavors.

A Taste of Ireland

Inspired by the craftsmanship, traditions, and stories of Irish culture, Chef Michael Sammour has created a specialty a la carte menu in The Pembroke restaurant and Doyle bar featuring classic Irish dishes with a modern twist. During the month of March, guests will enjoy traditional favorites including Guinness & Oysters, Corned Beef Croquettes, Shepherd’s Pie, and Beef & Guinness Stew, to name a few.

Irish Whiskey Tasting

March 27 is National Whisky Day, and there is surely no better way to celebrate than with a tasting at the Doyle cocktail bar, which features an extensive whiskey collection from around the world, including 25 Irish whiskeys like hard-to-find Green Spot and Midelton Very Rare. Guests will sip, savor, and ‘sláinte’ a carefully curated flight of limited-run, premium Irish whiskeys served on a map of Ireland.

Irish Wine Geese

Ireland might not have the right weather to grow wine grapes, but the country’s finest have surely added to the wine world. The Irish Wine Geese, a term coined as recently as 2005, is a hot topic in the wine industry nowadays. In the late 1600’s Irish newcomers played significant roles in shaping regions as meaningful as Bordeaux and Cognac, and we can still feel their influence, even outside France. Guests looking to taste Irish Wine Geese wine can explore The Dupont Circle’s curated wine selection at The Pembroke restaurant. Available at lunch and dinner, the collection, normally available by the bottle only, will be available by the glass. Every wine bottle is unique and has an intricate origin — after all, wine, such like Ireland itself, is all about history, culture, and tradition.
