Announcing Kālesma, A Boutique Beauty in Mykonos

February 3, 2021 by Allison Reiber DiLiegro

We are thrilled to announce a new representation, Kālesma, in Mykonos. This Mykonian boutique hideaway is set in the hilltops of Ornos Bay in Aleomandra, a prime locale in the west of the island. At just 10-minutes from Mykonos Town, the airport and the port, it’s an ideal base for exploring the island’s restaurants, shops, and beach clubs. And yet, it’s so much more than a base. With its private pools, lush suites and spacious villas, and stunning sea views, it’s a place for settling in.

The Mykonian region of Aleomandra, is named after the sacred Delian stables which, according to myth, provided shelter to the horses of the Olympian god Apollo. ‘Kālesma’, means ‘inviting’ in Greek, a word aligned with the ethos of this privately-owned, luxury boutique hotel.

Kālesma is a peaceful enclave that’s deeply rooted in its natural surroundings. It is a serene place for all types of travelers to enjoy from a romantic couples getaway to a family holiday. Its ambiance elevates your senses: from seeing the breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, smelling fresh bread baked daily, and fostering community for guests while offering privacy in the suites and villas.

Here east meets west. Kālesma epitomizes authentic Greek hospitality experienced in a traditional Cycladic village where Aegean tranquility intertwines with a “Dionysian fiesta” to create the most unforgettable experience. A true passion project, the property is the brainchild of the seasoned hospitality gurus behind Athenian hotspots Sea Spice, Pere and Ubu.

Designed by K-Studio, a Greek architectural firm, and interiors by Vangelis Bonios, Kālesma was inspired by the laid-back glamour of Mykonos Town, with its whitewashed walls and pink bougainvillea that overflows from archways. Made primarily from natural materials, the property blends naturally into its bucolic coastal surroundings. For those seeking a romantic destination wedding, there is a chapel located on site.

The 25 spacious one-bedroom suites and villas are set in white-washed buildings that climb up the hillside so each offers a spectacular view of the Aegean Sea. The interiors are light-filled and elegant, with natural woods, beamed ceilings and a neutral color palette. Each suite features a deep soaking tub with sea views and doors that open up to a private terrace with a heated swimming pool.

The one-bedroom villas offer a sunrise and sunset view and also feature a private pool and courtyard with a beautiful pergola to entertain. There is also an outdoor bbq and a private butler, chef, and waiter upon request for an additional charge.

For those seeking more space, there is a three-bedroom Apollon villa and a four-bedroom Artemis villa. Each villa has an open-plan living room, a private fitness area and an outdoor living space with a heated swimming pool that overlooks the sea.  The villas can be interconnected. For travelers looking to entertain including private events, the villas come equipped with a fully stocked kitchen, a wine cooler and a dining area. A Villa Manager is on hand to assist with all arrangements.

Community and gastronomy are fused in Kālesma’s DNA. Dine indoors or al fresco at  PERE UBU which specializes in modern Greek cuisine. Celebrating community, it will host weekly intimate guest-only dinners and a spectacular sunrise and sunset ritual from the restaurant which is positioned at the highest point of the property. Outside guests are welcomed to dine at the restaurant.

Days can be spent dining at the property’s modern Greek restaurant, taking private yoga classes and soaking admiring views of the Aegean Sea poolside. The spa is set to open in 2022 yet guests can have in-room spa treatments. For the curious traveler, set out to explore the island with insider tips and recommendations from their well-connected and knowledgable Concierge.

Their team can also help secure coveted lounge chaises and beds at the most sought-out beaches on the island. Wander through Mykonos Town, snack on Greek specialties in a local taverna or take a sailing trip to explore the island’s coves. History buffs can arrange a trip to the island of Delos to see the birthplace of the Greek God Apollo.

Or, spend the day by the pool and save the touring for the next time. There’s sure to be a next time.

The property is scheduled to open on May 20, 2021.
