Summer is in full swing in New Zealand. Join the team at the stunning Lodge at Kauri Cliffs in Matauri Bay and The Farm in Cape Kidnappers in Hawkes Bay for a variety of special activities throughout the week.

Summer Series at Kauri Cliffs:

EVENT DETAILS:

Monday: Garden Tour:
Explore our beautiful native gardens with Head Gardener Toni Holland. Walk through the meticulously landscaped pathways and discover New Zealand flora at its finest.
Tuesday: Putting Competition:
Add to the fun of the cocktail hour and try your hand at putting. Members of our professional golf staff will gladly help you manoeuvre around the imaginative miniature putting course as family and friends cheer you on. (No experience necessary).
Wednesday: Kapa Haka Performance:
During cocktail hour in the main lounge, guests can enjoy a live performance from a local kapa haka group. This is a unique opportunity to learn about Maori performing arts and get an authentic taste of New Zealand culture.
Thursday: Farm Tour
Kauri Cliffs is a working farm and a station tour is a must do. Join Farm Manager Jonathan as he makes his rounds. Watch as his farm dogs work by whistle commands to herd sheep and cattle, and witness a sheep shearing demonstration.
Friday: Pink Beach BBQ
Combine one of the most beautiful beaches in the world with a meal of fresh grilled seafood, lamb and other local produce. Partner this with New Zealand cheese and wine, and you have a barbeque experience never to be forgotten.
Saturday: Culture & Heritage Tour:
Unravel the rich tapestry of history and culture that all took place at this vast property. From the resting place of one of Maori’s migratory waka to the arrival of Captain James Cook and the generations of pioneer families that followed, Kauri Cliffs lay witness to it all.
Sunday Wine Appreciation:
Let our Sommelier Valeria take you on a journey through New Zealand premium wine. This is an opportunity to share impressions, learn about New Zealand’s key wine producing regions and of course, taste some fantastic New Zealand wine as well.

 

 

Summer Series at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers:

Monday: Flax Weaving Class:
Join local artists Ema Stone and Ani Maguire as they impart their passion and knowledge for traditional Maori flax weaving, an art form passed down from generation to generation. This activity is open to all ages and runs for approximately 2 hours.
Tuesday: Tour of Farm Vegetables Gardens:
Experience our spectacular vegetable garden with an informative tour. Hawke’s Bay is widely known as the Fruit Bowl of New Zealand, and with its abundance of vegetables, berries and herbs, our vegetable garden fits that description perfectly. Fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables are key to our daily changing menus, and this is your chance to learn more about the fresh produce featured by our chefs.
Wednesday: Photography Workshop:
Join photography enthusiast Steve Grooby to discover some of The Farm’s secret beauty spots and learn how best to capture them with your camera. Head off the beaten path to find stunning panoramas of rolling landscape, where Steve will share tips and tricks to harness the light and utilise your camera’s full potential.
Thursday: Stargazing:
The Southern Hemisphere is host to a magnificent array of stars and constellations and Cape Kidnappers’ rural, coastal vantage point makes it perfect for stargazing. Enjoy an evening under the stars as astronomer Gary Sparks guides you through our skies in this fantastic experience.
Friday: Guided Walk of Orienteering Course:
Orienteering is a sport with a long history having been around since 1897. Join our guide and take an invigorating walk along our 2.9 km orienteering course while taking in the open air and beautiful countryside. We recommend comfortable shoes for walking and a light jacket.
Saturday: Wine Tasting:
Hawke’s Bay is New Zealand’s oldest wine region and consistently produces award-winning varietals. Join a Cape Kidnappers wine expert in our Wine Cellar to taste some of the fine wines that Hawke’s Bay and New Zealand has to offer.
Sunday: Golf Clinic:
While staying at Cape Kidnappers, you have an internationally renowned golf course at your disposal. Hone your skills or take your first foray into the world of golf with our Sunday golf clinic. Our resident PGA professionals will examine your short game, full swing and discuss the nuances of our exceptional course.
